This is Ryan Anderson’s 3rd Open Championship which ties Tyler Menninga for the record. In fact, since starting the Open Championship in 2019, these two have been the only winners. As he did in his previous two championships, Ryan finished the season with the highest Average of all drivers, and in fact it was the highest Average ever recorded in the Open Championship: 319.36! He also holds the 2nd highest all-time Average at 291.47.
=== A TOUGH BUT PRODUCTIVE SCHEDULE ===
Ryan Anderson won 16 of his 33 races with an additional 6 final rounds. He scored points in 31 of those events, which definitely helped to keep his average high. He also finished the season with the 2nd toughest schedule and the toughest of all 6 championship winners at a 1.191 out of 1.500. His Total points sum of 10,539 is the 2nd highest of his career. He is one of only 10 drivers to have broken 10,000 points in a single season and one of only two—along with Tyler Menninga—to have done it more than once.
=== NEVER RANKED LOWER THAN FOURTH ===
Ryan started the season ranked 4th, but that would be his lowest rank of the season. Within 2 weeks he had risen to #1 on January 23rd and he held that spot the rest of the season except for the week of September 7th when Tyler Menninga briefly took the top spot.
=== INCREDIBLE STADIUM STREAK ===
From October to March, Anderson never went more than 3 races without a win. He was the only driver this season to win 4 consecutive Stadium Series brackets. Anderson competed in 12 consecutive Stadium Series final rounds from January 27th through March 10th which included 9 wins: San Diego, CA (1st, 2nd); Anaheim, CA (1st, 2nd); Houston, TX (1st); Anaheim, CA (1st, 1st); Detroit, MI (1st, 2nd); Arlington, TX (1st); El Paso, TX (1st, 1st).
That streak was only broken when he shifted to the Arena Series in Albuquerque, New Mexico for one weekend and lost in his first round. But he followed that up with 2 wins and a 2nd place to finish the weekend. Springtime was less fruitful for Anderson, posting only 1 win from April through June, including a stunning second-round exit from the Monster Jam World Finals where he lost a photo finish to LCQ winner David Olfert.
=== LATE SEASON DRAMA ===
As with many Monster Jam Stadium competitors, Anderson’s season ended in early summer with his final event being a win at Nashville on June 22nd. In the final 3 months of the season, only 1 other driver (Dalton Widner) was able to catch him in Total points and no one else came even close to his Average. The only drama in his otherwise calm rule at the top of the ROC was in early September when Widner passed him in Total points and briefly put Tyler Menninga into first place overall.
Menninga was looking to secure his 2nd consecutive and 4th overall championship, but he stumbled during a 5-race weekend in Savannah due to a combination of penalties and mechanical problems. That alone might not have made a difference, but at the same time Tristan England had a great weekend in Savannah and surpassed Menninga in Average points which put Anderson right back into first place, this time for good.
This was the latest lead change we’ve ever had in an MTROC season. It occurred in the 49th week of the season, with the previous latest having been the 38th week back in June of 2022.
=== A TOP COMPETITOR EVERY YEAR ===
When you combine all six season together, Ryan Anderson is atop that ranking, as well. He has scored the 3rd most points of all drivers (46,078) and has the best combined average (257.42). He has finished in the Top Ten in all 6 seasons, which is something that only he and brother Adam have accomplished. No one has been more consistent that Ryan Anderson and he does it on the biggest stage in the sport.
Congratulations once against to Ryan Anderson, the 2024 Monster Truck Racing Open Champion!
=== THANK YOU, RACE FANS! ===
Thank YOU for helping us with results all season long! We ended up with 1897 total season events, 1770 of which were reported, and 1073 brackets scored for points. This season ended with 114 of the 280 active monster truck drivers qualifying for the rankings. It takes a lot of support to get that many results catalogued and we could not do it without your support!
