===== WEEKEND RECAP FOR SEPTEMBER 26th – 29th, 2024 =====

It was a close battle right to the end but Ryan Anderson holds on to claim his 3rd Open Championship, tying the record held by this year’s runner-up Tyler Menninga. Anderson held the #1 ranking since January 3rd with the exception of one weekend in early September when it looked like Menninga might take the crown. But Tyler had a bad weekend in Savannah, Georgia the following weekend and got bumped back down to 2nd as Tristan England stole the spotlight and moved himself into 3rd.

Ryan Anderson had the 3rd most points but was way ahead of everyone else in Average, finishing the year with 319.36 points-per-race. The next closest was Tristan England with 237.12! Only 5 drivers finished with an average above 200. We’ll have more Season Recap coming up next week once the standings are finalized.

Preston Collins had a great final weekend as he swept the three races in Cullman, Alabama. That gives him 34 wins this season which is the most of any driver!

Cory Snyder won once in two final round appearances to become King of the Beach in Wildwood, New Jersey. Mike Christensen added another win to move up into 7th place overall, giving Team Throttle Monster 2 drivers in the Top Ten. Weston Anderson also moved up one spot with a win in Vancouver.

REMEMBER! We are still accepting late results for the 2024 season. If you have brackets from any of the events we are missing (which we included in a previous post) you can still send them in this week. We received a few late results this past weekend which is why you see drivers like Michael Vaters Sr getting a big bump in the standings despite not racing this past weekend.

The 2025 Open Championships season starts right now! We kick things off with Monster Jam in 3 countries, the Red Blue West Coast Nationals, and lots of other independent races all around the country.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us with reporting events this week: Nick Jones, Andrew Thornton, Mark Werner, Mike Christensen, Preston Collins, Daniel Clark, Ceejay Rettew, John Brown, Garrett Hanson, Mike Bevacqua, Kaila Savage, Kirk Nagy, Phil Vicinanza, and everyone who posted videos and photos online!

===== CLOVIS, NM =====

9/27 Fri Ngt: ALLEN PEZO [Predator] defeated Ron Nelson [Bustin' Loose]

9/28 Sat Ngt: ALLEN PEZO [Predator] defeated Ron Nelson [Bustin' Loose]

Allen Pezo gains 4 spots late in the season with two wins in Clovis, New Mexico. He won on a roundy-round course in event 1 and a drag racing course in event 2. Not racing related, but we’re told that Ron Nelson also won freestyle on Friday night which was only his 2nd ever career freestyle victory, believe it or not!

9/28 Sat Ngt: PRESTON COLLINS [Outlaw] defeated Kaley Engstrom [Shark Attack]

Preston Collins broke a 3-way tie with Tyler Menninga and Dalton Widner to end the season as the winningest driver in the sport! All three drivers had 31 wins this season on their respective tours, but Collins rattled off 3 more this weekend with the Monster Truck Wars tour in Cullman, Alabama to take the lead at the last second. Kaley Engstrom has had a strong finish to the season herself and gained 4 spots in the rankings. She’s been in the finals in 13 of his last 15 races.

This JM Motorsports Productions event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded

Sharon Lubsen grabbed a pair of holeshot wins on the high-flying metal ramps of the All Out tour. Unfortunately the final round was set based on timed trials rather than a racing bracket, so points could not be awarded for these two events.

===== KALISPELL, MT =====

9/28 Sat Ngt: ERIC SWANSON [Obsessed] defeated Travis Groth [Monster Moose]

Eric Swanson won his 8th race of the season in a photo finish over Travis Groth in Monster Moose. The CFP No Limits crew had to delay this event due to problems with the venue’s grandstands but were finally able to get the racing in just before the end of the 2024 Open Championship season.

===== LAKEPORT, CA =====

9/27 Fri Ngt: BILL PAYNE [Rockstar] defeated Donald Epidendio [Titan]

9/28 Sat Ngt: DONALD EPIDENDIO [Titan] defeated Bill Payne [Rockstar]

Bill Payne jumps into the Top 20 thanks to a win in Lakeport and a few late reports from earlier in the season which gives him 29 wins on the season. Donald Epidendio split the weekend with Payne and finished with 8 wins and 2844 points, but unfortunately he only has 16 of the necessary 20 events reports and so the Titan did not qualify for the rankings this season.

===== WEST JORDAN, UT =====

9/27 Fri Ngt: MIKEAL CHRISTENSEN [Vendetta] defeated Jacob Ladwig [Rat Attack]

Two of the top independent racers from the western USA met up in the West Jordan finals with Mike Christensen grabbing his 14th overall win and moving up into 7th place in the final standings. He also wins the head-to-head series against Jacob Ladwig 2-to-1 for this season.

The Renegade Monster Truck Tour brought 8 trucks back to the sands of the Atlantic shoreline in Wildwood for this year’s Monsters on the Beach. The Chicago-style track had some big jumps plus the always-tricky sandy turns. Cory Snyder was behind the wheel of Toxic for the first time this season and showed off his impressive racing skills that has made him and the Toxic team fan favorites in the mid-Atlantic. He gained 6 spots in the standings with a win and runner-up finish.
